IDNAC Site & Forums vs. a Yahoo Group
We asked in recent Forum Polls and site survey's if you thought that the Forum should stay or revert back to a Yahoo Group. The responses
represented a tie; and during a recent conference call of the IDNAC Members it was voted that we keep the forums; due to
it's higher level of functionality and our ability to offer you a wider variety of learning opportunities.
If you all remember, part of Dawn Scranton's decision last summer to move the qbIntegrators Yahoo group here to the IDNAC site was due to the
lack of space and functionality within the Yahoo group - not to mention all of the "commercial interruptions". We
have leased the V-Bulletin Forum software for another year and hope to do a much better job at explaining it's functionality to you.

A ProAdvisors Perspective - Leslie Capachietti
Since the creation of the Intuit Developer Network (IDN), there has been an increased interest in the ProAdvisor
community in learning how the hundreds of integrated solutions available in the Marketplace could be used to not
only respond to our clients' integration needs but also help us differentiate our QuickBooks consulting practices.
At the same time, members of both the IDN and ProAdvisor Community's were feeling the need for a better way to
facilitate the exchange of information between our two groups. After all the goals of our two groups are quite
complimentary - to help our customers get the most from their QuickBooks........

Question of the Day - What is RSS?
RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication, and is a format for delivering summaries of regularly
changing web content - such as new posts on the IDNAC forum. Many sites are creating RSS Feeds which are
available to anyone who wants them (for example, Inuit has created an RSS Feed for their new groups).
Why RSS? Benefits & Reasons for Using RSS RSS solves a problem for people
who regularly use the web to search for information. It allows you to easily stay informed by
automatically retrieving summaries of the latest information from sites that you are interested in. You
save time by not needing to visit each site individually.
What do I need to read an RSS Feed? You will need an RSS Feed Reader or a News Aggregator, and
we'll talk about that in Using RSS and a Feed Reader to receive Forum Posts.

Using RSS and a Feed Reader to receive Forum Posts
We have created an RSS Feed for the IDNAC Forum, which will allow you to be notified of new posts when they happen, without having
to visit the site everyday.
You can use My Yahoo, Outlook, Thunderbird, or a free RSS Reader to retrieve and view forum posts - without having
to be a forum member, each one will behave differently and offer different functionality. For example:
- Outlook will require a free RSS Reader plug-in, but will have the ability to "bring the forum to your mailbox"
- Thunderbird has a built-in RSS Reader, and can "bring the forum to your mailbox"
- My Yahoo will only give you topic headings and you will have to click on the heading to go to the forum to read the post.
Complete setup instructions are available for each option in the list above:
Instructions for using Outlook
Instruction for using Thunderbird
Instructions for using My Yahoo
No matter what option you choose, you will need to be a registered forum user to post a reply.
